Early in the match, fans began tossing flares onto the pitch. Referee Bjorn Kuipers briefly stopped play so the maintenance crew could remove the objects from the turf before restarting play. But in the second half, with the score tied 1-1, all hell broke loose, as firecrackers and flares were hurled, and hostile fans began fighting with police.
Play resumed after 15 minutes, and the game ended in a draw.
